Luke Cuts Stone

The family joined a rock and gem club and Luke is a Junior Rock Hound. His first meeting involved learning how to through a cut stone slab with a diamond saw! And after that he got to use the grinder wheel. Too cool!

Salmon Creek Rock Hunt

Luke and Dad went to Salmon Creek, WA to hunt for Dino Poop. They came home with more than that!

Crystal - Cleaned up!

Crystal Hunting!

Luke and his Dad have been crystal hunting! They drive out to Snoqualmie Pass, and then they climb about a mile up this hill:



Then they dug a big hole in the side of the hill and discovered a vein of quartz crystal running through it:



They filled up big buckets of dirt and rocks and crystals and dumped them on this screen that they had hung from a tree. After they shake it, they just have to sort through what is left to find the crystals.



This is Luke's best find of the day, it still needs to be cleaned up with a mild acid bath and a good scrubbing, but it's pretty cool!

Tennis Tournament!

Luke was invited by his tennis instructor to participate in his tennis team's tournament! It turned out he was playing with mostly middle school age kids... he took it all very seriously and learned a lot, quickly, about playing doubles. He loved it though, and can't wait to do it again!

Rock Hunting on the Rivers Near Steven's Pass
