Hair-do

It's spirit week at school this week. Crazy Hat Day, Crazy Hair Day, Crazy Clash Day, and then State/Country T-shirt day.

Here is Crazy Hair.





It was supposed to be a mohawk, but it just would NOT stand up. Tears were shed, shampoo and blow-dryer were brought out, and this was the best we could get it to do amid all the stress and trauma. He was 30 minutes late for school. And then washed it out immediately once he got home.

Talent day went well - he did Yo-yo tricks on stage in front of half the school. The fourth-graders even gasped out loud when he got the yo-yo to "sleep" and spin. He did great, a professional show-man.

School play is coming up. He's Montana and Kentucky. About 50 lines to memorize - he's almost ready though. More soon....

Tattoo Boy

Look Mom! 10 tattoos! And someday?! I'm going to have a real one. It's going to be a dragon that goes all the way up my arm. The tail will start at my wrist and go around and around and around until it gets all the way up here (points to shoulder) and then it will end with the dragon's head. ...How old do I have to be to have a real tattoo?

This is the "creative" piece. Instructions said "create your insect: draw, paint or create a 3-D Model" - of course Luke picked the last option. Poly clay, wire and beads... a little of Mom's influence there, but he did a lot of the work.

Luke made this at the Zoo last weekend. An African beaded bracelet.

The Insect Report

Luke has to do a report at school about an insect. He chose the Praying Mantis. Why? Because of this little factoid, which he thinks is gross and fascinating at the same time: after mating, the female mantis sometimes bites her mate's head off and eats him. Alive. More soon.
